In its first two years, I3P took off with astounding success, reaching a total of 15 tenant enterprises and in need of even more room to move, and with many important local and European partnerships firmly under its belt. In 2001, I3P was formally inaugurated, providing an occasion on which to present the incubator, and its good results, to the world.

The inauguration conference was attended by: Giuseppe De Rita, president of CENSIS; Valentino Castellani, mayor of Torino; Giuseppe Pichetto Fratin, secretary for Industry, Employment and Vocational Training of the Piedmont Region; Rodolfo Zich, rector of the Politecnico di Torino, and Vincenzo Pozzolo, chairman of I3P. The 15 tenant enterprises set up stands to present their businesses to the more than eighty guests invited to the event..

The EU Approves the Highest Project
Falling within the scope of the European programme PAXIS, Highest+++ was launched as a network uniting enterprise organisations in four economic areas of excellence: Alpes Maritimes, Helsinki Region, South Sweden, and the Torino Area (the City of Berlin later joined to become the fifth area the network). I3P represents the Torino Area and is the co-ordinator of the network. The goal of the initiative is to promote the transfer, exchange and comparison of best practices in the field of innovative enterprise incubation.

The UN.I.VER Accord
In 2001, I3P and Univer, located in Vercelli and part of the Second Faculty of Engineering of the Politecnico di Torino, signed an accord to promote and reciprocally support initiatives for enterprise creation. The synergies forged between the two incubators focused on promotional activities and incubation, and the opportunity for new start-ups in Torino to be hosted in the Vercelli enterprise incubator. The Accord represented the first link of a broader network of incubators that over time has been created across regional territory.

The Unione Industriale of Torino Agreement
Under the agreement signed in 2001, I3P's tenant enterprises were given the opportunity to become members of the Unione Industriale of Torino free of charge, and take advantage of the employers' association's expert advisors and consultancy service. The agreement was signed on occasion of the Galileo Ferraris Competition, by Mr Andrea Pininfarina, president of the Unione Industriale, and Prof. Vincenzo Pozzolo, chairman of I3P.
