After three years from its establishment, the first enterprises left I3P, having successfully completed the incubation programme and ready to face the world alone. The year 2002 also brought important international acclaim for I3P, with the Torino Area presented the “Award of Excellence for Innovative Regions” in Stockholm.
Stockholm, April - The Torino Area Awarded the EU “Award of Excellence for Innovative Regions”
The awards ceremony for the 22 “regions of excellence" participating in the European programme PAXIS was held on occasion of the Third European Forum for Innovative Enterprises, attended by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and European Commissioner Erkki Liikanen. The Award of Excellence was presented to the Torino Area for excellent results achieved in the development of policies for the promotion of innovative enterprises. The award was accepted on behalf of the Torino Area by Prof. Mercedes Bresso, president of the Province of Torino (in the photo, with Antonio Buzzigoli, Secretary for Industry of the Province of Torino – centre; left – Michele Patrissi, director of I3P; right – Vincenzo Pozzolo, chairman of I3P).

6-7/6 The Hewlett-Packard International Forum
The International Forum, organised by I3P and Hewlett Packard Philanthropy, was part of the series of HP-sponsored events involving European universities committed to promoting entrepreneurship. Held at the Politecnico di Torino, the objective of the forum was to exchange and discuss the experiences of the incubators of leading European technological universities.

LISEM– Laboratorio d’Intervento per lo Sviluppo Economico del quartiere Mirafiori Nord – Gets Underway
Falling within the scope of European Community Initiative Urban 2, the LISEM project was launched with the goal of promoting enterprise creation in the local area. The project was part of the network of I3P partner incubators, together with the UN.I.VER incubator in Vercelli.

11/6 The I3P Steering Committee Holds its First Meeting
As set forth in I3P's by-laws, the steering committee is responsible for providing policy indications and proposals to the I3P Board of Directors. The steering committee held its first ever meeting in 2002, at the Unione Industriale of Torino. On the agenda was the positioning of the incubator and new strategies for its growth and development.
