The new "Benefit Companies" (Società Benefit) section now online on the website of the Italian Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT) is dedicated to companies that have chosen this innovative business model, capable of combining economic goals with responsibility, sustainability, and transparency towards people, communities, territories, the environment, cultural and social assets, institutions, associations, and stakeholders.

The institutional portal provides access to all the information needed to learn more about the characteristics, advantages, and procedures for setting up a benefit company. MIMIT, in collaboration with Invitalia, is also promoting the first national Benefit Competition, a pioneering initiative in Italy that aims to highlight the best entrepreneurial experiences of benefit companies.

The competition, which will start in Milan on November 21, 2025, will consist of five regional stages throughout the country, plus a final institutional stage.

Start-ups, existing and newly formed companies registered as benefit companies, and entities interested in adopting this legal form can apply to participate by filling out the application form on the institutional website. Applications for the first stage in Milan must be received by Friday, October 17.

The companies selected from among the applicants will have the opportunity to present their projects during the Milan event to a qualified jury composed of industry experts and institutional representatives.

In support of the initiative, MIMIT has launched, in collaboration with Unioncamere and the Chamber system, a comprehensive training program to assist companies and professionals in the process of establishing and managing a benefit company.

The initiative demonstrates the Ministry's commitment to promoting business models that represent the sustainable evolution of Italian enterprises, capable of combining economic success and positive social impact in a winning strategy for the development of the national productive fabric.
