DatAIMed, an innovative Turin-based start-up incubated at I3P, the Incubator of Politecnico di Torino, has announced an operation worth a total of €1.2 million, comprising equity and industrial and commercial support. The investment involves Maggioli S.p.A., Zooga S.r.l., SocialFare, and private investors and business angels, including professionals from the healthcare sector.
The transaction combines the capital contributed by investors with an industrial and commercial partnership with Maggioli, aimed at supporting the development and adoption of DatAIMed in healthcare facilities. The total value includes both components and does not correspond entirely to the capital paid into the company.
The start-up's technology
Founded in 2024 by Dario Taborelli alongside a team comprising healthcare professionals, doctors and engineers, DatAIMed was established to address two key challenges in hospital work: gaining rapid access to reliable clinical knowledge and reducing the burden of administrative and bureaucratic tasks. Following its incubation at I3P and the acceleration programme run by SocialFare, the company brought its technology to market: the platform now has 15,000 registered doctors and healthcare professionals and is already being used by healthcare organisations, IRCCS and clinics across Italy.
The first section of the platform is dedicated to clinical appropriateness. Using an AI assistant, healthcare professionals can search biomedical literature, national and international guidelines, the EMA and AIFA medicines databases, and company documentation, including PDTAs, protocols and internal procedures. The results include references to verifiable sources, whilst the clinical decision remains the responsibility of the healthcare professional.
The second area concerns the automation of documentation and clinical and administrative processes. The development programme includes tools for preparing consultation notes, clinical summaries and discharge letters, support for completing Hospital Discharge Forms (SDO) and for ICD-10-IM and CIPI coding, right through to integration with Electronic Health Records and hospital information systems. The aim is to reduce repetitive tasks and free up time for patient care.
Designed to meet the needs of the Italian and European healthcare sectors, the platform focuses on source traceability, data protection, scientific validation and the governance of artificial intelligence, within the framework of the GDPR and the AI Act.
The future of the project
The new capital raised will be used to strengthen the technology and sales teams, accelerate the development of the platform and its documentation and coding features, and support integrations with the systems used by healthcare facilities. DatAIMed also intends to expand its partnerships with hospitals, healthcare organisations, IRCCS and private groups, thereby consolidating its presence in the Italian market.
The partnership with Maggioli combines DatAIMed’s technological expertise with the Group’s knowledge of healthcare processes and its industrial and commercial expertise. At a time when the adoption of artificial intelligence in healthcare is on the rise, DatAIMed aims to establish itself as a leading provider of AI solutions for clinical and administrative work, starting with Italian hospitals and gradually expanding its presence across Europe.
"We want to make artificial intelligence a practical tool for improving the appropriateness of care and reducing the cognitive and administrative burden in hospitals and clinics", said Dario Taborelli, Founder & CEO of DatAIMed. "This investment, together with our partnership with Maggioli, enables us to accelerate the development of the product and its adoption within healthcare facilities, whilst keeping scientific validation, governance and compliance with the European regulatory framework at the forefront. Our ambition is to revolutionise the way the healthcare sector operates, establishing a benchmark for clinical and administrative AI in Italy and across Europe."
