The call for applications is now open for StartUp Breeding 2021, the new edition of the initiative from Meet in Italy for Life Sciences - MIT4LS2021 for short - which is the leading international networking event in the Life Sciences sector, being held in Genoa, Italy from September 29 to October 1, 2021.
Thanks to an extensive network of partners, StartUp Breeding 2021 provides several opportunities for the realities that will be selected by the committee of experts and specialized investors. From 2016 to 2020, Meet in Italy for Life Sciences has proposed several initiatives for training and business development. The applications collected were more than 290, with 95 startups that benefited from training sessions and presentations and with the involvement of more than 110 investors and corporate representatives.
The initiative is dedicated to innovative start-ups and emerging companies working in the following areas of the Life Sciences sector:
- Medical devices
- IT applications for health
- Pharmaceutical
- Medicine, human health & wellbeing
- Related value chain activities
The prizes
Finalists will be able to immerse themselves in a tailor-made entrepreneurial journey, through seminars and breakout sessions taught by industry-expert coaches, who will help them hone and leverage their full business potential, ahead of the initiative's final event, the Atlantis Pitching Arena 2021.
In addition to the prize for the most innovative startup at MIT4LS2021, there are numerous prizes offered by the StartUp Breeding partner network. Among these is the I3P SUB2021 Special Prize: the Innovative Companies Incubator of the Polytechnic University of Turin offers one year of free incubation for a startup, selected by the prize jury. The support program that will be made available consists of:
- an all-inclusive coworking space for 12 months at I3P, for 4 people from the team;
- intensive tutoring and mentoring from its experts and network;
- participation in all networking events organised by I3P;
- presentation and support in contacts with potential national and international clients, investors, industrial partners, and local suppliers;
- support in relations with banks for debt financing in accordance with I3P agreements.
How to participate
To apply for the StartUp Breeding 2021 call for applications, follow the instructions in the "How to Apply" section of the initiative's website and complete the application process by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021. All application materials must be submitted in English.
By mid-June, the ranking of applications will be announced, with the end of the evaluation process and the engagement and virtual meetings with the selected start-ups to define the agenda of the training path. From July 5th to September 24th the "Business Scuba Diving" training sessions will be organized: expert coaches will help the selected startups to define, strengthen and refine their business proposal, in view of the final event on October 1st, 2021.
